Road Trip

Just back from a trip west. A large portion of Nebraska and South Dakota looks like this:

We combined a sightseeing expedition to the Black Hills with a family reunion in Valentine, Nebraska.

Absolutely gorgeous animals. Pretty sure we saw about 1,000 buffalo. And I did not need to zoom for this shot. They are very close to our vehicle.

Made a new friend at Wall Drug.

Food out of the cooler tastes great when you are taking a break from driving.

Visited a very nice quilt shop in Custer, South Dakota. It's fun to chat with the local folks. Bought a couple of cute panels there. They had a very nice selection.

Restaurant recommendation: Firehouse Brewing Co. in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!

Sounds like you had fun in SD. It is beautiful here and there is plenty to do. Wall Drug is always interesting. Glad you found a quilt shop to stop at too. They do have a ton of panels at the Custer shop. I love looking up to see what they look like.

that picture of the buffalo is amazing! and i definitely remember stopping by Wall Drug on my trip to SD. how can you not after that is the ONLY advertisement you see on the road (every 10 feet) for the past 2 hours before you get there?!

Hi, Sue! Hey, this landscape looks familiar to our trip across Wyoming and Nebraska in June. We showed our buffalo pictures, and someone commented that they thought they were extinct. That made me smile. Like your new buddy, too!

Sounds like a great trip! Glad the buffalo didn't mind the cars. They really are spectacular animals. We encountered two young males that wanted to spar with the cars. We kept our distance!
